The history of the Church

As an LDS it was very informative to see the progression of the doctrines of the Church.
Although most of the doctrines discussed in this collection of writings have been changed or adjusted, just as God planned it should be, it was enlightening to see why they were implemented in the beginning.
Even though Orson Pratt's zeal may come across as harsh to non-members, one can feel his passion in his writings.
If you want to understand why polygamy was practiced in the beginning you will realize that those who did observe it truly believed they were acting under the command of God, as do I.
You will see that it was done not under the guise physical lust or even the desire to have more than one wife but for the preservation of the Church at that time.
Just as the patriarchs in the bible, those who engaged in plural marriage did so with purest of intentions.
I believe that if anyone could see the now abolished practice as anything more than what it was intended to be,(spiritual love, not physical lust) they should check their own hearts.
