Our favorite sexy gamers are back!

Killing me. That’s what you’re doing, Mrs. Brenna Aubrey. You’re killing me with this couple.
This couple that doesn’t know what is best for the other. The couple that doesn’t know how to have a multiple sided conversation. These 2 people that are holding all these internal thoughts that are begging to be spoken, but instead say things that mess everything up. But at the same time, I love them. And I want them to be happy. I need everything to be okay.
But let me tell ya’ll why it’s not okay.
Adam is extremely selfish. He HAS to be in control or else he feels like nothing will be done perfectly. He has issues with letting Mia live her own life. He’s interested in his own personal benefit without giving thought to what she would want.
And some of it is understandable because after all, Adam is a multimillionaire with a capital company who is used to playing dirty for what he wants, but you can’t run a relationship like a business. And after he finally realizes this, it’s too late.
Mia, on the other hand, refuses to let anyone help her (other than Heath)! Damn, woman. PLEASE! Just ask for help. Confide in the people closest to you. Otherwise, all the stuff going on will eat at you a thousand times worse.
I loved reading from Adam’s perspective. Mrs. Aubrey does a male’s viewpoint very well, and I couldn’t see much resemblance in his and Mia’s.
At Any Turn has none of that money s*** hovering over their heads. It’s a real relationship, not a contracted one.
And, lord have mercy, sexy as hell. (The mirror scene. That is all).
Even though I had an idea of what was coming, what the heartbreaking reveal of hers was going to be, it still shook me to my core. I had goose bumps at the final sentence and just cried for a few minutes after I turned my Kindle off. (A book hasn’t hit me that hard in a very long time. Like since The Fault In Our Stars or Thirteen Reasons Why or Hopeless.) Emotionally drained.
From where all of this is going, the next book is going to be hard to read. But I guess I have a while to mentally prepare until it is released!

Huge letdown after the first book

I'm giving this book 2 stars because I found it very frustrating. I read the first in the series and really enjoyed it, but this second book drove me nuts.
Mia has a big secret and she refuses to share it with anyone except her best friend, Heath. She won't share it with her mother or her friends or, most importantly, the love of her life, Adam. Her reasoning for not sharing with Adam is that she doesn't "trust" him because he's effectively a control freak. She doesn't want him to take over...she wants to resolve things herself.
This just makes no sense to me. She loves him and he loves her. Supposedly. But she deliberately imposes a separation between them at a time when she needs him more than anything.
Her secret was pretty predictable, and I had guessed it from almost the beginning. The author tries to throw in a couple of red herrings in hopes that the reader won't guess the real secret, but I didn't find those misguided leads to be effective.
One of the few things the author did right with this book was to have a VERY unique premise. The idea for this story is fantastic and it would've played out really well if Mia wasn't such an idiot. Yes, Adam's a control freak; but I had a hard time blaming him for some of the steps he took to try to find out what was wrong with Mia. He was becoming deeply concerned and she wasn't sharing. If these two don't get their act together, then there will be absolutely NO believing that they will be successful in the end.
Overall, I found this book really disappointing. If I hadn't read the first book in the series, I might've only given this book one star because I found Mia so juvenile and irritating. With all of that said, I *will* read the last book in this series because the author did one thing right: She threw in a HUGE shocker at the very end and I just have to know how the characters will resolve this shocker.

A hard lesson in compromise....

Mia and Adam are just getting over the honeymoon phase of their relationship when things begin to come crashing down.
Adam's gaming company has been slapped with a law suit and Mia has been accepted in to med school...on the other side of the country.
Adam suddenly realises that Mia is his world and the thought of her leaving scares the hell out of him. So Adam goes in to battle mode...which totally annoys the hell out of Mia. Both strong willed and stubborn, Mia and Adam fight it out. But to Adam's surprise Mia calls his bluff and calls a time out on their relationship.
At any turn is told through Adam's point of view. Adam is not used to not being in control. To start with he takes it as a challenge, but as the story progresses, Mia becomes more and more distant leaving Adam lost and confused.
Towards the end of the story all is revealed, but the story does not conclude and so be prepared to be left hanging a little because Ms Aubrey has book 3 in the works.
I love Adam and Mia, and I totally Love Brenna Aubrey's writing style. I cannot wait to see what is in store in Gaming the System #3!
